Just a question on if it's worth it. I'm not willing to change around the colors on my 5 Link chest but some general advice would be nice. Here is what I'm running with
CI Spec Duelist
Duel Wield Swords
5-Link Chest is currently RRRBG and I'm using the 5-link for Cleave not Duel Strike. I have a 4link I'm using for that.
Gems currently using on 5-link
Increased Melee Dmg - Red
Melee Dmg on Full Life - Red
Crit Strike Mult - Blue
Faster Attacks - Green
Cleave - Red
My dmg buffed is roughly 8600 single duel strike, 5600 cleave AOE
I would need to remove 1 of the three red gems I'm currently using to make it work with cleave which means Increased Melee Dmg or Melee Dmg on Full Life would need to go.
The other option is the move cleave to my 4link and move Duel Strike to the 5link however I find myself using cleave 90% more than dual stike simply for the ES regen i get from Mind Drinker in a crowd of mobs and moving it to the 4link means a massive loss in DPS just to make dual strike heavy in DPS.
Thoughts on if there is going to be a drastic change in dps at all? It's hard to test it considering Multistrike is costly right now. I suppose I could buy it, test it, and resell if needed but with either of these 2 gems at lvl 1 how much am i really going to find out. Wouldn't faster attacks make a little more sense to leave in considering there is no reduced dmg like Multistrike has? I understand it's not going to be as fast but come on.
Just kinda feel that Multistrike gives us all this great attack speed and then they crush into the ground the melee dmg making me guess on if it works better or not.

I would not touch multi or splash for pure melee/phy dmg builds cuz of the dmg reduction.
Pure melee builds, IMO, are the shittiest in the game. I'd go w/ elemental cleave. Just cuz you got a 5k-8k dps does not mean that what the mob is taking. Resist is static, armor scales. Scaling means that high armor absorbs some damage based on dmg delt. So a little less phy dmg is absorbed a whole lot more. High phy dmg 'crushes' through the low armor and does 80'ish% dmg as apposed to like 30-40%.

I dont quite understand how you have dual strike with your current 5L armor. you get rid of cleave and faster attacks and then put in dual strike? But thats beside the point.
melee splash after a few levels does 100% to the first target (if you have all physical) and eventually 100% to all of the surrounding targets.
multistrike is...i dont have it yet but it does increase damage. lets say you do 1000 DPS. MS does 40% less at level one but does 3 attacks. so you would go down to 600 DPS but three attacks so 1800 DPS. its INSANELY Good because at level 10 or so you get 45% increase of melee damage so you get back to 100% (again if you are using physical damage).
I hope my post makes sense and you can learn somethin from it,
if not just look at the POE Wiki and look under skills/suppport skills. it gives all the DPS rates for almost all of the levels for those skills.
EDIT: Kripp....didn design the game and I dont like to watch anything that he comes out with. Just because he says it is bad doesnt make it bad. I enjoy my 5k DPS melee splash dual strike 50% leech life shadow to death.

I'm not using Dual Strike in my 5-link. I mentioned that above. I'm using cleave. My point is in order to get cleave with multistrike or melee splash, 1 of the 2 other red gems in my 5-link need to go. Either Increased Melee Dmg or Melee Dmg on Low Life. My question really is, if i get rid of one of those 2 and replace with multi is it going to be better? Hopefully that clears it up.
Now if I wanted to I could remove faster attacks and add in the dual strike, however 1 of the other 2 red gems still needs to be removed to get multi or melee splash in there.

Maybe it's easier to link my 2 items so that you can see what I'm using for support. If anyone has a suggestion to incorporate melee splash or multistrike into either of these two pieces that would not reduce the dmg output with dual strike or cleave I'm all ears.
I'm willing to change the colors on the 4link but not the 5.
